A computer feels noisy when every app demands attention at once. Start by closing the tabs and windows you are not using. Then turn off notifications for anything that is not a person waiting on you. News, shopping, and social alerts can wait until you choose to look.
Give the screen a simple layout. One window for the task, and a notebook or a single notes app for the list. Put the phone face down or in another room during a focused block of twenty-five minutes. The point is not a perfect system. It is fewer interruptions.
At the end of the day, write tomorrow’s first task in one sentence. Leave the desktop tidy. A restart once a week clears stuck apps and installs updates you have been postponing.
Calm work is a set of small choices. You can begin with notifications today and ignore the rest until that already feels better.
